Patient Success Story | Surgical Removal of Parasitic Liver Cyst
Mr. Karma Chhiring Gurung successfully underwent Hepatectomy at Vejthani Hospital. A large parasitic cyst on his right lobe of the liver was surgically removed
Mrs. Tin Nyo used to feel tightening and discomfort around her abdomen because of a large hepatic cyst making it very difficult for her to move forward, sit and stand. While the standard treatment is laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Jade Suphapol (HPB Surgeon) performed an open surgery to remove the whole cyst as Mrs. Nyo had already undergone multiple operations. After the surgical removal of the whole cyst, she is leading a normal life. Non-parasitic liver cysts are benign and asymptomatic until they become enlarged. Such cysts must be surgically removed to avoid complications that arise after rupture, infection or hemorrhage.
