6 Dangers of Wearing High Heels

Share:

High heels are one of women’s must-have items that could increase self-confidence and allows them to have a better personality. But, do you know that wearing high heels for too long and too often might cause pain in the feet and ankles?

Wearing high heels for too long can cause a lot of pressure on feet and ankles, especially on the toe, sole and instep of the feet. Moreover, the size of high heels is usually smaller than the actual size of the feet, so it might strangulate the feet.

Hence, wearing high heels for too long might cause the following symptoms and diseases:

  • Pain in the thighs and legs (muscle tension)
  • Hallux Valgus or Bunion
  • Hammertoes
  • Pain in the feet, toe, sole, and instep of the feet (Foot tendonitis)
  • Hard corn on the feet
  • Pain in the knees and back

The recommendations for patients with mild symptoms are regular stretching on thigh muscles and toes, wear comfortable shoes with suitable size, and try not to wear high heels for too long. But, for patients with pain in the feet, hallux valgus, or hammertoes, we recommend you to seek medical treatment and consider undergoing physical therapy or surgical treatment to solve your feet and toes problems.
