Brain cancer is detected when a cancerous or malignant tumor is found in the brain. The tumor may form in the brain itself or when cancer cells in other parts of the body spread to the brain.

Colorectal cancer is the 4th most commonly found cancer among all types of cancer. However, its fatality rate has significantly decreased in the latest years because of the availability of a screening test called “colonoscopy”.
Colorectal cancer is caused by the presence of polyps in the colon. No symptoms tend to appear in the initial stage, but when the polyps grow large and turn into cancer, symptoms will start to appear. The signs include bloody mucus in stool, smaller stools, alternating periods of constipation and diarrhea, abdominal tightness, enlargement, bloating or a lump appearing in the abdomen.
Hence, if those who are at risk of developing the disease, undergo colonoscopy for a screening test regularly, the disease will be detected early, allowing the patients to receive immediate treatment.
The groups of people who are at risk of developing colorectal cancer are advised to undergo colonoscopy as follows:
- People aged over 50 years are recommended to undergo colonoscopy every 3-5 years.
- Those who have problems with bowel movement, such as constipation or frequent diarrhea, or alternating periods of constipation and diarrhea.
- Bloody stools could be bright red or dark, with abnormal odor.
- Polyps from the rectum could be prolapsing when straining to poop. There could be some bleeding as well.
- Abdominal tightness, bloating and pain.
- Abdominal lumps, weight loss, paleness and fatigue.
