Viral pneumonia outbreak ( Wuhan Coronavirus )

The viral pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, China is the disease caused by 2019-2020 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCOV) which is the new coronavirus and it is a human-to-human transmitted disease. The virus spreads by cough, sneeze, saliva, and phlegm. The incubation period of the disease is normally around 5 – 7 days, however, it could be delayed to 2 weeks. The people who infected the virus might have the following symptoms;

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose 
  • Sore throat 
  • Shortness of breath 

However it may range in severity if the complications occur, the severity of the disease will be increased which is Pneumonia, the inflammatory cardiomyopathy, Heart failure, or Kidney failure. Moreover, if children, elderly, and people who have a low immune system or pregnant infected to the virus, these people might evolve into more severe. Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment or preventive vaccine for this virus. The doctor can only provide symptomatic treatments. Thus, we should protect ourselves from the virus by frequent hand washing, wearing a mask, avoid oversea traveling, especially Wuhan, China, and avoid crowded areas.
