Blanking Out or Staring into Space could be a Symptom of Epilepsy that Worth Your Attention

Share:

When it comes to epilepsy, many people may mistakenly think its most apparent symptom is seizures that affect the entire body.

However, there are two types of seizures:

  • Tonic-clonic seizures
  • Absence seizures: Patients may do things unconsciously or have unintentional automatic movements, such as lip-biting and fumbling with objects or clothes.

Many are not aware that being absentminded is a kind of seizure. It is crucial to make people suffering from these symptoms aware of their disorder and encourage them to seek medical advice for proper diagnosis and treatment. Currently, epilepsy can be treated by controlling and preventing seizures with anti-seizure medications, which offer a 60–70% success rate.
