Shoulder pain…should not be tolerated

Share:

Chronic shoulder pain from rotator cuff tendinitis does not only affect people’s everyday lives as it stops the ability to use the hand as needed, but they also suffer from a painful condition. The causes of chronic shoulder pain are often time developed from rotator cuff injury or rotator cuff tear. This can happen from sports related activities or heavy use of the hand or even from accidents. Patients will experience pain in the shoulder and some of them could feel the pain radiating down to the elbow. If this is left untreated, the rotator cuff could be severely torn and that may have an impact on other tendons.

There are 2 types of treatment methods for Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

  • Medications and physiotherapy: When there is an inflammation of rotator cuff or partial tear that is less than 50%, doctor will recommend oral medications or injections along with physiotherapy and a temporary break from using the shoulder. This will improve the condition and patients will be able to resume the use of their hand as before or as nearly as before.
  • Arthroscopic surgery: When rotator cuff is torn more than 50% or lesser but treating with medications and physiotherapy has shown no improvements, doctor will recommend surgical procedure for the patients to effectively use the shoulders again. Surgery in the present days is not alarming, because with the help of technology, endoscopic surgery could be performed. The lingering scar will only be 1 centimeter long; it reduces damage to the surrounding tissues, which results in faster recovery and allows patients to quickly return to their everyday lives.

Those who have shoulder pain should promptly consult a doctor, because leaving the condition untreated may cause a chronic pain and further damage the tendons, resulting in agony that affects the quality of life.
