Heart Attack: A Serious Medical Emergency

The heart is one of the most important organ that pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circular system which works 24/7. You may think that your heart is strong enough, but have you ever heard that a football player aged around 30 years old die while he was playing football on the field? Some people may look healthy and strong, but who knows, they might have coronary artery disease hidden inside their bodies. The harder your heart works, the higher is the risk of coronary heart disease to occur.

  • Xiphoid process pain 
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Heart palpitation

The causes of Heart Attack 

  • Changes in the blood vessels as you aging
  • Underlying condition such as high blood pressure, Diabetes, or high blood lipids.
  • Overweight or Obesity
  • Cigarette smoking  
  • Stress
  • Lack of exercise 
  • Some hereditary diseases or family history of heart diseases

Treatments for Heart Attack 

  • Anticoagulants 
  • Angioplasty and stent implantation 
  • Coronary Bypass Surgery

Most importantly, the patients who have a heart attack need emergency medical treatment within 60 – 90 minutes to widen the blood vessels as soon as possible, in order to decrease the risk of heart failure and death in the future; and also increase the chance of getting back to its normal function.
