Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)

Diagnosis

Several laboratory tests can aid in detecting the virus. However, there have been no reported transmissions of SARS anywhere in the world since 2004.

Treatment

Despite worldwide efforts, scientists have yet to find an effective treatment for SARS. Antibiotics are ineffective against viruses, and antiviral drugs have not demonstrated significant benefits in treating the illness.
