Common Gynecologic Conditions That May Require Surgery

Some gynecologic conditions may require surgical treatment when symptoms are severe or when non-surgical treatments are not effective. The treatment approach is carefully selected based on each patient’s condition and needs. Common conditions include

Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths of the uterine tumor that can cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding, and pressure on nearby organs.
Treatment focuses on controlling symptoms, reducing bleeding, removing tumor and improving daily comfort. The appropriate approach depends on the size, location, and number of fibroids, as well as the patient’s age, overall health, and reproductive goals.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the endometrial cavity, leading to pelvic pain, painful menstruation, and sometimes infertility. Treatment focuses on relieving pain, controlling disease progression, and supporting long-term reproductive and overall health through individualized care.
Abnormal uterine bleeding (menometrorrhagia) refers to bleeding that occurs between menstrual cycles, lasts longer than usual, or involves unusually heavy menstrual flow. This condition may be caused by factors such as uterine fibroids, polyps, hormonal imbalances, and in rare cases, cancer. Depending on the underlying cause and severity, treatment options may include medication or surgical intervention.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac in an ovary or its surface.
Most of the ovarian cysts are painless and harmless.
It can cause chronic pelvic pain and may affect ovarian function.Treatment focuses on symptom relief, preventing recurrence, and preserving ovarian health, especially in patients planning future pregnancy.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse develops when one or more pelvic organs shift downward from their normal position due to weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and supporting connective tissues. The pelvic floor acts as a supportive system that maintains organs such as the bladder, uterus, rectum, and upper part of the vagina in place.
Chronic lower abdominal pain is persistent or recurring pain in the lower abdomen that lasts for several weeks or longer and may affect daily activities. One possible cause is Abdominal adhesions, bands of scar tissue that form between abdominal organs, often after surgery, infection, or inflammation. While some adhesions may not cause symptoms, others can lead to ongoing abdominal pain or digestive discomfort. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and symptom severity, and may include medication or minimally invasive procedures to help relieve symptoms and restore normal organ function.

The Da Vinci Surgical Robot
The Da Vinci system is a computer-assisted robotic device with four robotic arms capable of movements far more delicate and precise than the human hand.
Surgeons operate the system via a dedicated console, viewing the surgical site in enhanced, high-definition 3D. Every hand movement is transmitted in real time to miniature instruments inside the patient’s body, supported by motion-stabilizing technology that eliminates natural hand tremors. This enables highly precise operations even in complex anatomical areas.
Key Advantages of the Da Vinci Surgical Robot

  • High-definition 3D visualization for enhanced clarity
  • Articulating robotic arms that move with exceptional flexibility
  • Reduced trauma to the surrounding tissue and less blood loss
  • Smaller incisions, less postoperative pain, and faster recovery compared to open surgery
  • Lower risk of complications
  • High precision facilitates surgeons in the most delicate procedures

Gynecological Conditions that can treat with Da Vin Ci Robotic system

  • Uterine fibroids and ovarian tumors
  • Uterine cancer
  • Endometriosis
  • Pelvic organ prolapses

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical method employed for procedures in the abdominal and pelvic regions. This approach utilizes a laparoscope, a slender telescopic rod equipped with a camera at its end, allowing visualization inside the body without the need for extensive incisions. Instead of the 6- to 12-inch cut required in open abdominal surgery, laparoscopic procedures involve two to four small incisions, each measuring half an inch or less. One incision accommodates the camera, while the others facilitate the insertion of surgical instruments. This minimally invasive technique is colloquially referred to as “keyhole surgery” due to the small incisions.
