BLACK MAGIC OR DERMOID CYST?

Share:

A lot of women know ‘Ovarian tumor‘, but you might not know ‘Ovarian dermoid cyst‘, a saclike growth that is present at birth. It contains structures such as hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands that can be found in the ovaries. They can cause torsion, infection, rupture, and cancer. However, the chance of cancer occurring is around 0.2 – 1% and mostly found on young women. Normally, there will be no any symptoms, but if the complication such as infection, torsion, or rapture occurs, the patient will have these following symptoms;

  • Having localized pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis.
  • The lump can be found in the abdomen by palpation.
  • Acute abdominal pain

If it has a complication or detected from the annual health checkup, the dermoid cyst can be removed with either conventional surgery or laparoscopy surgical technique. With the laparoscopy surgical technique, the patient will have just a small size of the slit. In addition, the laparoscope will display 4K and/or 3D images to assist the doctor’s vision in order to get better outcomes of the surgery. The patient will be fast recovery and able to walk immediately after the surgery.
