Single Visit Ceramic Inlays/Onlays Using CAD/CAM Technology

Inlays and Onlays ,also known as indirect fillings, are offered  a well-fitting, stronger, longer lasting restoration  to tooth decay or similar damage. These restorations are beneficial  from both an esthetic and functional, moreover they are conservative than dental crown.

Typically, an inlays or onlays procedure is completed in 2-3 dental visits. But with advanced CAD/CAM technology, Dentalis Center – Vejthani Hospital can design and place inlays and onlays in only 1 single visit.

The Difference between Fillings and Inlays/Onlays

Fillings are restoration that put directly into the decay or broken tooth without any dental cement. This usually happens when the tooth has a decayed portion. Inlays and Onlays are indirect create within laboratory outside the mouth ,  then insert to teeth with dental cement.  Ceramic appear beyond stronger than composite filling for large cavities.

Inlays/Onlays using CAD/CAM Technology

After removing all the decay, with the CAD/CAM Technology the dentist scans the tooth affected, then designs the inlay or onlay. Once done, the inlay or onlay is very accurately sculpted from a solid block of ceramic by a machine called a miller. The ceramic restoration is now ready to be cemented onto the tooth. All procedures can be done in 1 visit.
